Chinook Helicopter

Description: An aircraft that derives its lift from blades that rotates about an approximately vertical central axis.
Overall Function: To convert heat energy into rotational energy (rotation of the blade)

Three Barreled Cannon

Description: Leonardo’s alteration to the standard cannon with more mobility and firing rate. This model shows a different specimen of light artillery: the gun carriage is easy to handle and it has three front-load guns. To improve firing accuracy, the three guns can be adjusted in height by means of a peg mechanism.
Overall function: To convert thermal energy into kinetic energy.

Self Driven Car

Description: This model is an example of a self-moving car. The car was operated through a system implying the hand-loading of the leaf springs transmitting the stored power to the driving wheels by complicated set of gears.
Overall function: To convert elastic potential energy into work.

Machine for cutting files

Description: This is a cutting tool by Leonardo. A sharp hammer is used to cut the files. The hammer is triggered with the file holder through the mechanism of a gear and a screw, which in turn are operated via the lowering of a weight. An outside wheel helps wind the rope, with the weight attached to it, back onto the drum.
Overall function: Convert gravitational potential energy into work.

Revolving Crane

Description: This revolving crane, lifted weights and can rotate, thereby allowing for the fast transfer of materials from one site to another.
